Singer’s Big Six

During Singer’s 45 year heyday from 1920 to 1965, six machines sat at the top. Often called the “01” machines because four of the six model numbers ended with an “01”, the Singer 101-4, 201-2, 301A, 401A Slant-O-Matic, 500 Rocketeer, and 600 Auto-Reel were, and still are the best domestic machines Singer ever produced.
Singer 101-4

Produced from 1920 to 1932, the Singer 101 was Singers first electric only domestic machine.

Singer 201-2

Produced from 1932 to 1963, the Singer 201-2 is still regarded as one of, if not the best straight stitch sewing machine that was ever made.

Singer 301A

Sold between 1952 and 1958, the Singer 301A introduced the slant shank presser foot.

Singer 401A Slant-O-Matic

Sold from 1956 till 1961, Singer 401A Slant-O-Matic was the first multi stitch in the Big Six, and is still regarded as one of the best multi stitch machines ever made.

Singer 500A Rocketeer

Produced and sold between 1961 and 1963, the Singer 500A Rocketeer is a refinement of the 401A

Singer 600 Auto-Reel

Sold from 1962 to 1965 The Singer 600 Auto-Reel and Singer 600E Touch & Sew were the last of the line to only be made with all metal gears in it’s drivetrain.
