Singer 626 Touch & Sew

This machine was given to a friend, and she passed it along to me in case it could be put back into service for a reasonable price. I had hoped it was one of those rare all metal geared 626 Touch & Sew machines, but alas it was not.
Plastic Gears

In the above gallery you can see the plastic gears, and in the video you can see that the hook isn’t turning, and the static top gear as the main gear turns. You can replace all of these gears and the parts aren’t expensive, but when you add in the labor to replace them you realize quickly that it’s cost prohibitive.
Badging

Standard Singer medallion found on a lot of the Touch & Sew machines, along with the “Certification” plate, and finally the serial number stamped into the underside of the deck.

Early style all metal bobbin case, target style bobbin winder button, and Touch & Sew clear bobbin with the white fill indicator lines. Note the presser foot off to the left in the first photo. For some reason the presser foot set screw was missing from this machine, I set it askew intentionally for this photo.
Plastic Cam Stack

Unlike the gears which are sometimes made of steel in the Singer 626, I think the cam stack is always plastic in this model.
Top, bottom, and left end

Looking under the top, bottom, and needle bar covers.
Tensioner

The tensioner unit can be removed by backing out the tensioner unit set screw found behind the needle bar cover. See the photo with the arrow in the gallery above. You can see the whole set screw in the photo above.
