Singer Sewing Machines

Singer 301 & 301A

This is a 1953 black, long bed, Singer 301A. The black machines where produced in both long and short bed configurations.

This 301A is a 1956 Light Beige Oyster White, or factory designation “LBOW”. This one still needs a good cleaning. The two tone Singer 301A was only produced with a short bed.

This is a 1952, black, short bed, Singer 301. This machine is a little rough and tumble. It came to me with no bobbin case or bobbins, and it’s finish isn’t in very good shape. I added an aftermarket bobbin case and bobbins and it sews like a champ.

This is a 1952, Tan, long bed, Singer 301. The all tan machines where produced in both long and short bed configurations.

Cabinet cradle

The model 301 and 301A lack the holes and set screws that most machines of that era used to attach themselves to a cabinet. These machines require a special cradle that clips onto the bottom of the machine.

Carry case

The 301 and 301A was often sold with a trapezoid carry case.

Bobbin case and bobbins

The original bobbin cases for the 301 and 301A will always be stamped “SIMANCO” or “SIMANCO USA” and the part number “45750”. The original bobbin cases and bobbins are obviously the preferred choice, but I’ve used aftermarket replacement bobbin cases and bobbins without any issues so far.
