I bought the Kenmore 158.1262181 because it’s an odd machine. At first glance it looks pretty normal, but this machine uses a tilted Rotary hook, and that’s just odd.

As I understand it, the tilted hook was also used by Necchi on the “Sensor Sew” sewing machines, and that’s another odd machine that I’ll hopefully get at chance to play with some day. So far I haven’t had the chance to get it running yet, but when I do, or even if I can’t, I will be adding more info on this one.

Removing the front cover

This machine isn’t difficult to disassemble once you locate the hidden takedown lever, which most people miss simply because they aren’t expecting one. A few key points to keep in mind:

• Key Screws: Pay close attention to screws #2 and #4 in the third panel, as they are notoriously easy to overlook.
• Integrated Frame: The internal mechanism is built directly into the rear casing, which doubles as the machine’s primary frame.
