Singer Simple
The Singer “Simple” machines are entry level, lightweight, and light duty Zig-Zag sewing machines commonly sold at big box retailers and online. When used as intended they’re decent machines, but if you’re taking sewing up as a real hobby, it’s a machine that you’ll likely grow out of pretty quickly. There are quite a few different machines in the “Simple” series, but thus far I’ve only really gotten a chance to dive into two of them. According to the Singer website, it looks like the Singer Simple 3337 is the most current model, and like the two below it also has a metal inner skeleton.
I did some looking and found five model numbers in the Singer Simple series: 2263, 3116, 3223, 3232, 3337. It’s quite possible that more models exist, and I will add them to the list if I find them.
Model 3232

As best as I can tell, the Singer Simple 3232 introduced around 2017. It was a basic machine featuring 32 different stitches.
Singer Simple 3232 Internal Metal Frame

Like most modern mechanical sewing machines, the Singer Simple 3232 has an Internal Metal Frame. This provides some rigidity and weight to the machine, but as you can see, the 3232 has a cam stack, hook drive gear, and several other important components that are made of plastic.
Model 3116

As best as I can tell, the Singer Simple 3116 introduced around 2012. It was a basic machine featuring 17 different stitches.
Singer Simple 3116 Internal Metal Frame

The metal frame of the 3116 is a little different than the one in the 3232, but it serves the same purpose.
Pass or buy?
I’ll always recommend an all metal machine over one made with plastic parts, but if do you end up with one of these machines… I wouldn’t put the Singer Simple on my must buy list, but if you only need a lightweight machine for simple repairs, or as an inexpensive machine to keep in your camper as a travel machine, you could do worse.
