Singer 3343C

As best as I can tell the Singer 3343C sewing machine was manufactured in 1993. These were ok machines in the early 1990’s, but never intended to be in use 25+ years after they were sold. If you have one of these machines and it runs, then use it until it stops working. At that point I would recommend getting a new machine, or even better an earlier all metal vintage machine.

It’s convertible to freearm by removing the bed extension, and it’s internal stich pattern selection can be expanded with the use of Singer external pattern cams. These are the earlier flat cams like the ones used on the Singer 306 Swing-Needle.

It has a cast plastic frame, plastic gears, and a plastic feed lift cam. In the machine above, the feed lift cam and zig-zag cam gear are developing cracks. You can get replacement plastic gears for these machines, but I’ve never seen a replacement feed lift cam or zig-zag cam gear. The white lithium on the gears was standard practice when these machines were produced, but that grease hardens and adds to the strain on the already fragile plastic parts.
