The Sergemate Companion 5030 is a three thread single needle household overlock machine, manufactured in Taiwan by the Tacony Corporation and sold under the Simplicity brand. There’s very little info to be found on this machine, so I will just tell you what I found as I worked on it and provide photos that may answer other questions you may have.

It was encouraging that my preliminary stitch test worked well. Just needs a good cleaning, and lubrication.

Swing out work bed removed. The swing out work bed rotates on an eccentric hinge pin that is held in place by a set screw. The eccentric hinge pin is used to align the work bed with the throat plate.

I was disappointed to find a plastic main gear, but so far it’s held up. The old lube will be replaced with a synthetic lubricant that won’t damage the plastic gear.
