Modern sewing machine connecting rod
I’m used to the connecting rods for driving the hook on vintage machines, so when I saw a modern connecting rod I wondered was was hidden inside.
I had to part out a Euro-Pro 7100 with a cracked feed lobe anyway, so I decided to investigate and share what I found.

The connecting rod is simple, and lacks the connecting rod cap one would expect to find on a vintage machine. Instead of a bend in the main shaft that functions as a cam lobe in a vintage machine this one uses an aluminum lobe held in place with a set screw. On the left side of the cam lobe sits the lobe for feed fork, or in this case feed bar. As you can see in the second to last photo the feed cam lobe is cracked.
